The cyclotrope is a cycle of 18 images that is spun at a certan speed so that the frame rate of the camera filming it gives the illusion of animation.
I was searching for my own blog posts on Google, and came across a tumblr blog that’s also called space and the woods. There’re some cool pics on there, here’s a selection.

The most popular Super 8 film ever, the Kodachrome 40 ASA, no longer exists. The production has stopped since 2005, and developing the film was possible until december last year. With the last 25 yellow boxes, the Dutch filmmaker Johan Kramer made 25 portraits of 8 year old kids through the Netherlands. The film is called Bye Bye Super-8 and will be shown in the Kunsthal in Rotterdam, as a part of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), which begins tomorrow. This film is a unique goodbye to the legendary Super 8 film. Watch a fragment of the film below:

Dead Drops, a project by Aram Bartholl, is an anonymous, offline, peer to peer file-sharing network in public space. USB flash drives are embedded into walls, buildings and curbs accessable to anybody in public space.

This project is the ultimate source of open information. Both the files and locations are accessible to everyone! Plug your laptop or phone to a Dead Drop and drop your files. Or download files you think are interesting. Everybody can make their own Dead Drop, and submit it to the website.
I’m going to place a Dead Drop at my school, the Utrecht School of Arts. Hopefully the first one in the Netherlands! This way every student can promote their art or look at work from others. Update coming soon!
Made it yesterday at school, tried to make it as three-dimensional as possible.
This is funny, a project from two students of the HKU (my school). From their website:
panoptICONS addresses the fact that you are constantly being watched by surveillance cameras in city centres. The surveillance camera seems to have become a real pest that feeds on our privacy. To represent this, camera birds, city birds with cameras instead of heads, were placed throughout the city centre of Utrecht where they feed on our presence. In addition, a camera bird in captivity was displayed to show the feeding process and to make the everyday breach of our privacy more personal and tangible.
