FIELD MAGAZINE

In the first two weeks of the seminar month on the HKU, I had to make a magazine. My magazine, FIELD, is about art in public space. Everything from content, images, typography to design was selected or made by me. Here is a flip book animation of the whole magazine.

ELEKTRIKKK

The Land of Giants, a very nice project by Choi + Shine Architects who designed new electricity pylons in the shape of humans by making only small alternations to the existing pylon design. The design is a submission for the “Icelandic High-Voltage Electrical Pylon International Design Competition”. They didn’t win the contest, but I like it very much.

BUILDING SINGLE SPEED PT. 2

Ok, some progress on the single speed again.
After stripping the frame, I filled some holes I’m not using anymore. On the photo below, you can see the attachtment for the rear brake. I’m only mounting a front brake, so this part has become useless. Filled it up, and ready to spray paint in a while.

I also made my single speed wheel. I removed the gears from the cassette, and used some spacers to center the single gear. It is very important to have a straight chainline.

I already tried the bicycle out, but the bottom bracket was making some noise. I’m working on that, probably posting it the next time.

BUILDING SINGLE SPEED PT. 1

Yesterday I picked up this Jan Janssen race bike for 20 euros. The bike has an old steel frame and is in good condition. My plan is to make it single speed. Maybe I will turn it in a fixie someday, but for now it will be single speed.

READ ON BELOW TO FOLLOW THE PROGRESS SO FAR. MORE..

HKU PAVILION

After summer I want to study Urban Design at the HKU (Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht). I had to do assignments for an admission exam. One of the assignments was to design a pavilion for one of your favourite objects. I choose the Diana F+ camera. This is the result.
